Anna’s second act

AS per developments on August 24, the draft of the Jan Lokpal Bill has been finalised by Team Anna and the Government of India. The finalised draft has been sent to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for circulation at an all-party meeting.

The consensus was reached after a second round of talks between Anna Hazare’s aides — Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan and Kiran Bedi — and a team of persons nominated by the government. The latter comprised Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Law Minister Salman Khurshid and Congress MP from East Delhi Sandeep Dikshit.

Unsatisfied with the government’s draft of the Bill, Anna Hazare had embarked on a 15-day fast from August 16. He started his hunger strike at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi from August 19.
